“For people who have not heard my testimony…it was a process…it was God calling and setting me apart from the world. It was a process that I had faced death in my house but God gave me a second chance.
“I remember driving my car towards Manda Hill, then Arcades. I started failing to breath in my car. But thank God, some people helped me to drive to my mother’s place in Olympia where men of God prayed for me and demons manifested.
“For three hours, they prayed for me. That’s when I regained my conscious.
I was taken to the hospital where I was put on and off oxygen for three days. While in the hospital, I started to think about my life,” he recalled.
He said after being discharged, he attended a church service with his wife at the Love and Mercy Ministries. It was during the service when the preacher made an altar call and he responded to it.
That is basically how his life changed for good.
Asked how he has been handling the challenging Christian lifestyle since then, he said although it has not been easy, the Holy Spirit has been aiding him.
“It has not been easy but challenges come to strengthen our walk, every temptation comes to give us a force of knowing who we are.
“I have had challenges but they have made me to be better. I have fallen many times but am able to get up for the Bible says a ‘righteous man shall fall seven times but will be able to get up,” he said.
He explained that it was his repentance that facilitated his conversion from secular to gospel music.
“I did not switch from secular to gospel. I gave my life to God. That is a big difference as a gospel artiste and it’s the most important thing. It was just a time that I had to stop the music and the Holy Spirit started operating in me and God’s grace was upon me.
“Through my music, I have reached to people. Now, the sound of my music is different in a very good and amazing way compared to the secular music I did. I cannot even weigh the two against each other,” he said.
5 years after his repentance, Manase says there is now a very big difference between MKV and him.
“Now it is the presence and grace of God upon me with addition of the Holy Spirit. It is impossible to compare the two. Challenges in God are a blessing and motivate me to minister the word,” he said.
Manase’s debut gospel album titled as ‘Testimony’ which featured T-Sean was released in 2013.
Manase last month released his second gospel album which he is calling ‘Set Apart.’ The artiste said the project which features likes of Ephraim, Rachel and Israel is expected to give healing, bring people closer to God and set them apart from difficulties of the world to God’s presence.
“My songs are part of worship which takes people to the presence of God to feel change in their life which brings about deliverance,” he said.
He emphasized that before releasing music to the airwaves, he makes sure it makes an impact on his own spiritual life because only through that can it make an impact in other people’s lives.
The artiste also revealed that in future, he hopes to work with South Africa’s Benjamin Dube, MC Dowel from the United States of America, Pompi, Chileshe Bwalya and other upcoming gospel Zambian artistes.
The singer also took time to share some success secrets in the music industry.
“To the young ones pursuing music, be prayerful, meditate on the word, be patient. Know the one you are singing about. Take a stance that will never be shaken by anyone. Know your God and reason with God. Be determined and know where you are coming from and where you are going,” he said.
He added that when he feels discouraged by the challenges of the music industry, he normally turns to Revelations 3:8 for comfort.
And the singer also advised Zambians especially Christians to always support each other and not rush into judging other people.
“Most people especially believers tend to judge without understanding one another. So, I would love to see a Zambia full of comforters, people that love to hear than speak, people with patience to understanding , being someone’s strength,”
